Rory's Top Ten Albums of 2002

Time to get the lists going again. I seem to have spent most of 2002 getting back into old stuff and discovering last year's stuff six months late (e.g., Royksopp and Air, who would dominate this list if I wasn't limiting it to 2002 releases). I have a feeling that one or two others might have made my top ten if I'd got around to buying them (e.g. Feeder, Mr Scruff, Lemon Jelly), and I don't know if Black Rebel Motorcycle Club counts as 2001 (US) or 2002 (UK), but never mind. Here, as of today, use by 31 December, some contents may have settled during shipping, is my list of favourite new releases for 2002:

  1. Coldplay, A Rush of Blood to the Head
  2. Beck, Sea Change
  3. Luna, Romantica
  4. Mint Royale, Dancehall Places
  5. Supergrass, Life on Other Planets
  6. Les Hommes, Les Hommes (Schema Records)
  7. The Chemical Brothers, Come With Us
  8. Badly Drawn Boy, About a Boy
  9. Bebel Gilberto, Tanto Tempo
  10. Doves, The Last Broadcast

How about you?

Gasp - turns out that Tanto Tempo is not a genuine 2002 release (it was only that in the UK; 2000 elsewhere). And Black Rebel Motorcycle Club's debut (released in January here) was April 2001 in the US, so that won't do either. If you must, delete Gilberto and insert David Bowie - Heathen or Leaves - Breathe at number 10.

Don't get too fussed, heh. I've put the Amelie OST on my 2002 list even though it was probably available before then.
