Zero 7 - Simple Things (2001)

This album is perhaps most reminiscent of Air circa Moon Safari, with 60s/70s-style orchestration, string arrangements, vibes, vintage synth warbles and laid-back grooves. There is a bit more of a nod to soul and trip-hop in places, though, and with good effect. Mind you, the album has its weak points (one of the songs sounds a bit too close to weak early-90s girl-group R&B for my tastes), but they're more than outweighed by highlights (such as the gorgeously lush Polaris).

Simple Things is the kind of CD you could expect to hear in a good cafe. Well worth a listen if that kind of thing appeals to you.
