NEWS
March 2010

Not being too inclined to allow the to grass grow beneath one's feet after the release of the album, work has commenced on compiling the songs for the next couple of collections. The intent will be to finally gather together various releases from the past decade. Some of the stuff will be barely touched as they're already perfect (ha), but other tracks are being remixed to better realise their potential. There are also quite a few songs and alternate versions that were near completion but were never made public for whatever reason, so some of these will get a guernsey as well.

At this rate there'll be more than one collection, most likely two, with further details to come. I'm loathe to give a concrete time for when the sets will come out but May seems like an feasible target for the first, at least.

So there's a new album out, Recombinant Diamond Dust, nothing too flashy but I think it's good, anyway. Seems to be a lot of stupid melody lines on this one, but the ideas underneath are pretty solid, although I wouldn't say I'm breaking too much new ground. But anyway. I suppose I could write some hyperbolic press release here about how we're going to shake the music world to its foundations, but you know, who gets taken in by that these days? Yes, Antlerland's pretty good, but it's not the cure for Alzheimer's.

Wronghead Versions, the second "single" release from Intercapital Daylight, is out. As usual you can now download it from Bandcamp. As the title suggests it's a bunch of versions of Wronghead, dating back as far as the 90s, as well as some new remixes created especially for this release. Half an hour of variations on the same riff for you! I also anticipate doing something similar for "The Sharpest Knife" in the next couple of months.

Work on the next album proper, as well as a couple of compilations, are proceeding in fits and starts. Something new should be out by the end of the year, though what exactly I'm not entirely sure. We'll all find out soon enough no doubt!

Also, if you have a Facebook account, why not hook up with the Antlerland fan page and get the skinny on new tracks and the latest developments from the Kul Teng Funk Labs? There's also a Myspace page, but, ugh, it's Myspace, you know?

If you have an Uvumi account, you can check out Antlerland amongst many other interesting musicians.

Antlerland uses and recommends Renoise 2.

ALBUMS

Recombinant Diamond Dust
Another set of tunes that'll hang around in your head until you're compelled to call the dream police. Having said that, this is not particularly ambient, even though it threatens to go there. Rather, what ever moods there are have to share space with more motorik madness, stupid melodies, the return of the dreaded ride cymbal sample, and stuff that might be described as "Mooggazer". Hot tracks include "Dunklepunkt" and the rather cheesy "Chroma Key".
GRUD004 - Released February 2010

Intercapital Daylight
Ten songs, once again covering a range of styles but with a particular dubwise flavour to much of the set, though other tunes venture into post-rock, cinematic electro and straight-up classic melodies banged together by someone with a complete lack of concentration. Includes the rambunctious "Dunga" and the deathless "Wronghead".
GRUD003 - Released June 2009

Friends Don't Let Friends Electric
Five songs covering the gamut of Antlerland's favoured styles that defies idle attempts to taxonomise it according the bullshit terminology that is de rigeur amongst electronic music purveyors! Includes the stupidly long "Bootywhang Express (Parts 1-4)".
GRUD002 - Released October 2008

COLLECTIONS

Wronghead Versions
Companion to Intercapital Daylight, including the album track "Wronghead" plus seven remixes of the damned thing. GRUV501 - Released August 2009

Chindogu
Archives Series 1
A selection best of the old tunes from 1996 to 2000, when the Kul Teng Funk Overdose nom de guerre was in effect. Somewhat rough and ready but with plenty of ideas and melodies spilling out like a overladen bag full of useless inventions.
GRUD001 - Released December 2007

Antlerland Remixes KFMF
Five remixes of songs originally released by the '90s mod tracker music group, plus a homage.
No Cat # - Released June 2006
